Truth IS stranger than fiction

I laugh (internally — unless I’m in a particularly foul mood) when people say to me, “I don’t know where you come up with your ideas.”

It’s not hard folks. Pay the slightest bit of attention to the news and you can find plots worthy of suspense/mystery/thriller stories.

Just to give you an idea, here are two stories that caught my eye in the past few days:

1)

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Four Mexicans were killed when a dispute between two Tzotzil Indian families over a pothole in the street escalated into a full-blown shootout.

Four people were killed over a freakin’ pothole! If I made something like that up, people would say that it was implausible (if not impossible). 2)

SOFIA (Reuters) – A Bulgarian woman who killed her son was released from prison because of terminal cancer. She then went home and killed her husband, police said Tuesday.

This one gets better. She killed her son with a GARDEN HOE!

Yes, a garden hoe.

LIFE IS BIZARRE. Fiction makes sense!

  1. This past weekend I was driving around in the mountains, on a little gravel road where even in my truck top speed was 15-20. I came across a Lexus with road rage! What the heck he was doing on a tiny dirty road in his Lexus was beyond me to begin with, then he was in a hurry! Some people are just nuts.

  2. LOL, great story Annalee! I can just see a modern day version of Duel (that old Steven Spielberg movie where a trucker is terrorizing a guy in a regular car) where everything is reversed: The Lexus runs a truck off a tiny dirt road!
Using your description, we’ll call it: Road Rage

I can just see the sequels….
