Writing Can Be Murder

Eau de Writer?

Filed under: Uncategorized — jenniferelbaum @ 11:52 am

Have you seen the ads yet for “Danielle” the new perfume being launched by Danielle Steel?  I guess having sold 500 gazillion books isn’t enough for her. She had to hawk her own signature scent.

What would an author’s scent embody? Paper, toner, stale coffee, a lack of regular showers?

Would you buy a scent endorsed by a writer?

  1. I’m allergic to perfume, but even if I wasn’t, I can honestly say I would not be interested in her’s since I can’t stand her books. I wouldn’t buy any scent just because it had someone’s name on it. You buy a scent because you like it and it smells good on you (and no scent smells the same on any two people).

  2. I commented at RD, but as a rule perfume doesn’t do much for me except give me a headache. I didn’t even finish reading the People magazine the ad was in because the scent was making me a little ill.

  3. I don’t understand why some people buy perfumes just because it has a celebrity’s name on it, but I seem to know a bunch that do.

If you think about it, this must be a long term thing since Chanel No. 5 is connected with Coco Chanel, right?
