Writing Can Be Murder

First Barbaro, now Anna Nicole Smith?

I didn’t get the whole mourning over the dead horse thing.

Now I really don’t get the whole “poor Anna Nicole” thing. I mean really, the woman was a celebrity train wreck.  A train wreck of her own making. Her claim to fame was that she continually made self-destructive choices. Why are people so distraught over her death?

Can’t wait to see the books/movies/tv specials that come out of this.

I’m thinking about changing my take on the whole Barbaro thing because at least he accomplished something….

  1. I was never an Anna Nicole fan, but the sad part is she left a 5-month old daughter in the middle of a paternity suit that could do nothing ultimately but hurt the child. I did feel bad when her son died – not that I don’t think her lifestyle contributed to that, but it’s still terrible.

  2. I agree with you that her daughter is the ultimate victim (and I’m left wondering if either candidate for father will want her now that she’s not attached to pursestrings, which is cynical of me, I know) and it was sad about her son, but I still can’t find it in myself to be sad about her death. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not happy about it, I’m just not sad (or surprised, because c’mon, is ANYBODY surprised she died young?).

  3. I’m not at all surprised she died young. Considering her reported obsession with Marilyn Monroe, I’m wondering if she might have been MM in her previous life and had come back doomed to repeat her earlier mistakes. Now, apparently, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband is also jumping on the paternity bandwagon, so I wonder if that will be the new Hollywood chic – claiming to be poor Danielyn’s father.

  4. I do feel sorry for the baby….she’s the one who deserves the money that all these men are fighting over. But I can’t work up much sympathy for Anna Nicole herself, who seemed at times intent on killing herself, as many celebrities do, with booze and dope. Besides that, she just was’nt my type. Apparently, she went to bed with anyone who had (even a weak) pulse, and while that is certainly an accomplishment, it’s not one I’d want to emulate. My fiance Rick says he is positive that he’s not the father of A.N.’s baby, and he knows many men who are equally confident. Maybe they should call Larry King and narrow the search… I CAN work up some sadness for Barbaro, but that’s because many of MY celebrities are either canine or equine Americans. They have to actually earn their fame, and some do amazing stuff. Still, you’ll never see them fight over money. Or a spot on Larry King Live….
