Writing Can Be Murder

Finding feedback

Filed under: Uncategorized — jenniferelbaum @ 3:51 pm

Yesterday a musician friend and I were discussing feedback and how important it can be for an artist.

I think it’s easier for a musician or painter to get feedback.  After all, how long does it take to listen to a song or look at a painting? (This isn’t to say that a composer or artist doesn’t slave over their masterpiece, they absolutely do.)

As a writer you need someone to invest HOURS of time, to give you feedback on your work.

Who do you get feedback from?

  1. After my CPs, the most feedback I get is from reviewers. I do get the occasional fan e-mail, which is nice, but I really think most readers just read a book and that’s it. Even if they enjoyed it, many don’t go out of their way to let an author know. I’m guilty of that myself, having always thought most authors were too busy and got too much fan mail to really have time to be interested in what I had to say. Now that I am a writer, I know that’s not true.
