Fondling Your Muse

Filed under: Uncategorized — jenniferelbaum @ 1:15 pm

I’m reading a book that defies description, so I’m just going to give you the front cover copy and a quote from the back.

 Front Cover Copy:

 Fondling Your Muse

Infallible Advice From A Published Author To The Writerly Aspirant

A Hands-On Guide to Writing Your Very Own New York Times Bestseller

Charmingly Articulated and Unquestionably Authoritative Fame-Inducing Processes

John Warner

Editor of McSweeney’s Internet Tendency

Back Cover Quote:

“Fondling Your Muse is brilliant in the same way the most distant stars of the galaxy are brilliant. If it’s a really clear night and you look just the right and tilt your head to the side and squint, you sort of see it.” Dave Eggers

If that had you chuckling, you might enjoy the book. If not, don’t bother picking it up.

  1. Is the rest of the book as tongue-in-cheek as the blurbs?

  2. Yup! The man’s tongue is firmly implanted in his cheek.

For example he provides same elevator pitches like:

“A brilliant mathmatician goes all whack-job, but marries a hot chick and turns out okay, sort of.” — A Beautiful Mind
