Quick Fix

Filed under: Uncategorized — jenniferelbaum @ 9:27 am

I’m a quick fix addict (c’mon, who isn’t?).  I recognize this is a problem and I struggle to not go for the quick (i.e. “easy”) fix.

I had a quick fix for my WIP all figured out. It was brilliant (ok, it was just easy but it seemed brilliant in the moment it came to me). All my problems would be solved.

Now I’ve got to try to figure out a long haul solution. Sigh.

On a related rant — stick with me on this one:

I had high hopes for “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”. I’m a huge fan of Aaron Sorkin and I thought the cast was pretty impressive. I watched every episode and ya know what — it got off to the slowest start imaginable. It was — dare I say it — pretty boring.  Viewers tuned out. The network cancelled it. No big surprise.

But a big shame because NBC just finished airing the last three episodes and they ROCKED! Why? Because the slow (boring) build of the show allowed me to get to know the characters and I cared about them and once that base was established, the show could have gone anywhere and I would have followed.

Too bad NBC had to go for the quick fix…
